The
Onalaska Police Department would like to remind everyone about safe
railroad crossing. We
have recently received numerous complaints about persons crossing
the railroad tracks near the spillway.
They are crossing the trains that are stopped and walking on
the railroad tracks to access the spillway area.
We would
like to remind everyone that the only places where pedestrian
crossing is allowed is near the spillway and near the entrance to
the park. Persons
crossing in other areas or those caught walking on the railroad
tracks will be cited at the railroad’s request.
The citation amount for this violation is $235.00.
Adult
supervision near the railroad tracks is strongly recommended due to
the heavy railroad traffic flow.
If you have
any questions, please contact Sgt. Tim Berg at the Onalaska Police
Department, (608) 781-9550.
